Vermont Mountainside Cabin- Nature + Epic Views

This cozy, mountainside cabin is the perfect place to relax and reconnect with friends, family, and nature. The house is nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains, and feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And if you feel like driving to town, our corner of southern Vermont offers a host of outdoor recreation, dining, arts, and more.

The space
GENERAL
Our cabin is in a remote location, but is tied to the grid and allows for use of regular electronics and appliances.

LIVING ROOM
The living room has a sofa, lounge chair, and futon that can made up as an additional bed. There is a TV and DVD player, but there is NO WIFI or Cable service at the cabin. So the only option for the TV is DVDs.

KITCHEN
The kitchen has a propane stove and oven, refrigerator/freezer, and microwave. It is stocked with dishes, silverware and basic cookware.

BEDS
Upstairs there is a loft bedroom with a queen size bed. Downstairs there is a futon in the living room that opens up to a full size bed. (Extra pillows and bedding for the futon are provided.)

BATHROOM & COMPOSTING TOILET
The bathroom has a shower stall and sink. The toilet is a modern composting toilet, not a regular flush toilet. It is simple to use and does not smell funky 🙂 Directions for use are provided. There is also a traditional outhouse available—if the mood strikes you.

WOOD HEAT
The ONLY source of heat in the cabin is a wood stove. Firewood and directions are provided and it heats the house very well. But guests should be aware that they’ll need to tend the stove during their stay, if they are visiting in the early Spring or Fall.

OUTSIDE
There is a raised deck just outside the living room, that has a fire pit and seating. We provide fire wood. On the other side of the house, there is also an outdoor table where you can relax and enjoy a meal with a view. We have a propane grill set up for your use as well. There is a crystal clear stream running at the entrance of the property and if you’re feeling brave, you can take a plunge into our brisk, mountain waters!

LOCATION
This cabin is in a remote spot at the end of a dead-end dirt road. It is a 15 minute drive to the closest main road, and general store, on VT 313 in Arlington. Our dirt road is maintained by the town, and 2-wheel drive cars will do fine. If you love hearing the stream running, crickets chirping, and owls calling in the evenings, you’ll love this very special hideaway. But this is most definitely “the boonies”, and we don’t want anyone to expect a convenience store or amenities nearby.

NO WIFI, NO CABLE & LIMITED CELL RECEPTION
There is no wifi or cable connection at the cabin. Cell reception can be very poor, depending on your carrier. We’re adding a landline in the near future.

Guest access
Guests will have exclusive access to the the entire cabin and its surrounding area.
