Our house is the perfect retreat for couples, individuals, or groups of friends looking to escape and relax. We are open for stays and have further increased cleaning protocols during Covid-19 so that you can continue to enjoy nature comfortably.

The space

Our cabin is designed to immerse you in the forest of Wisconsin without sacrificing the comforts of home. Check out the details below and follow us on Instagram @offgridinn

Sleeping:

– 1 queen bed (with heated blankets) and 1 bench with padding
*We would say the cabin can sleep 2 adults very comfortably in the queen bed and 1 adult comfortably on the benches. We don’t have additional sleeping bags, so please bring your own + any form of padding you might want to use on the benches!
*We installed a new air conditioner in our former small loft area so it is no longer an additional sleeping place.

Kitchen:

– Electric stove with 2 burners
– Sink
– Mini-fridge
– Pot, frying pan, spatula, tongs, and cooking spoon
– Cups, bowls, plates, and silverware for eating
*We want to encourage guests to cook meals in our tiny cabin because we think it is a fun, unique experience. We also want it to be known that this is not your traditional home kitchen and there may be a few limitations. The burners work well, but they can take a little longer to heat up. We have salt & pepper, but please bring your own seasoning/spices if you think you will need them. Our goal is to provide the basic essentials for you to cook a meal and eat it!

Bathroom:

– Electric toilet*
– Nebia Shower**
*We provide a bathroom that doesn’t require you to leave the tiny house. It has an electric toilet which uses an automatic waste wrapping system. We recommend flushing primarily if you went #2, or else it could result in wasted flushes. We have a flush limit of 7 flushes per stay for any stays 2 days or fewer. Each refill cartridge only has 15 flushes, so if you think you will need more than 7 flushes for your stay, please let us know so we can plan accordingly!
**Our shower is a high efficiency shower made by Nebia. It uses a mist to limit the amount of water consumption used during showers. So if you see a mist coming out, nothing is broken. We’ve heard great things so far!

Parking:

– 1 parking spot veering off to the right, about 50 feet from the house.
*Our driveway is fairly narrow in some spots of our forest, so please do not attempt to back out when you’re leaving. There should be enough space to turn around in the driveway and drive straight out.

Land:

– Fire pit (folding chairs we provide for use at the fire pit are stored under the house)
– Free firewood (please limit usage to 3 or 4 logs)

**PLEASE MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW SAFETY GUIDELINES WHEN YOU HAVE A BONFIRE! Do not leave the fire unattended, and make sure to put the fire out before you go to bed. If you do not have experience starting bonfires, please make sure you inform yourself before starting a fire. We want to make sure you are safe, and also want to protect the forest, our house, and our neighbor’s houses.

Water:

Running water is provided by the well near the house. Our water heater will provide warm water, but please be aware that this is still a tiny house, so it may not be quite as consistent as your heater at home.
*During extremely cold temperatures (below zero), we may have to shut off the water for your stay. This is something that we will make sure you are aware of before your stay, and we will provide backup water sources should this happen.

Internet:

– WiFi: Verizon Hotspot
*There can be spotty cell reception on our property if you have a carrier other than Verizon, so we provide a hotspot to give every guest the ability to stay connected. The hotspot is provided for this reason, it is not meant for streaming videos. We have an unlimited data plan, but if previous guests have streamed movies and reached the bandwidth limit, the high speed internet access may be limited. If you plan on streaming any videos, please make sure to download them before your stay!

Pets:

We allow you to bring along a pet to stay at our house, but there is a $30/night fee. Please mention this in your initial message to us and we will send a rate adjustment! It is still expected that you clean up after your pet and care for the property in our house.

Guest access

You will have full access to our tiny cabin during your stay. We have a fire pit area that you can use, where proper fire safety precautions must be taken.

We ask that you stay near our house and do not wander on to neighboring properties. Our house is in the middle of the property, and there is about 80 feet to the property line on each side of it. For reference, if you see the driveway heading back to our 2nd house, that is the property line.

Other things to note

There is another tiny cabin located further back on our land. They are far enough away that there will be no direct view of that cabin, but there could be other guests on the property!
